7 Generations Porsche 911 - Womens

The Evolution:

It all started at the 1963 Frankfurt Auto Show when the original 911 was introduced.  There has been only six minor remodels in over 50 years to the 911 and two major remodels.  The original 911 referred to as the Pre-impact or Longhood lasted until 1973.

In 1974 they added impact bumpers for the U.S. and their stricter safety regulation, which is why these cars are referred to as impact bumper cars.  The car was still a very similar car from the beginning all the way to 1989.

The 964 introduced AWD, coil springs, ABS and power steering.  The 993 made the first stab at altering the headlight wings. It also is the last air-cooled and hand-built car.

The first major remodel was the 996 with an all new platform.  A lot of changes took place like it grew in size, but the most significant change was the switch from an air-cooled engine to a water-cooled engine.  The 997 was the successor to the 996, but the styling resembled closer to the 993 than the 996.  The 997 also reintroduced the idea of having two basic versions of the 911- the Carrera and Carrera S.

The 991 was the second major remodel and only third new platform.  It again grew in size with a larger wheel base which added to the interior comfort.  It became a Grand Tourer as well as a sports car.
